The 2019 AWCI Queensland Apprentice Challenge is now open for nominations. State Challenge will be held at TAFE Acacia Ridge from 7.00am on Thursday 27th June 2019 to determine the two apprentices to represent QLD in the National & New Zealand Apprenticeship challenge.

The National Challenge will be held at Uluru, NT, between 6th – 9th October 2019.

The State Challenge will involve the apprentice preparing and constructing a technical Plastering task from drawings (using materials supplied).

Selection Criteria:

  • Nominee must represent a current financial member of the AWCI QLD
  • Nominee must be an indentured apprentice with a current contract of Training or having recently completed a contract of training ending 30th December
  • Nominee must have the approval of their host employer to be involved in the Apprentice challenge
  • The nominee can be any age but must be in a current contract of training [ not RPL or Upskilling ]
  • Each apprentice must be prepared to sign an agreement with AWCI to be part of the apprentice challenge
  • Nominee must be at minimum a 2nd year Apprentice

The Apprentices who represent  Queensland at the Australian & New Zealand Apprentice Challenge will receive:

  • Flights, accommodation and meals during the Apprenticeship challenge

All participating Apprentices will be provided a ticket to the Annual AWCI QLD Awards of Excellence where the winners will be announced

If you are nominated for the State Challenge your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing the full nomination form which will be sent to you
  • if you are under 18 gaining the written approval of your parents
  • bringing your PPE and required tools with you
